Erik Ten Hag opens up on Marcus Rashford’s contract situation

Renewing Marcus Rashford’s contract is a ‘priority’ for Manchester United.

That’s according to manager Erik Ten Hag, who has opened up on the Englishman’s future while speaking to Sky Sports.

Rashford, 25, is in scintillating form and after scoring 22 goals in 35 matches, in all competitions, so far this season, is undoubtedly experiencing his finest-ever run in a United shirt.

Arguably the Red Devils’ most important player at the moment, Rashford’s form in front of goal has helped propel the 20-time league winners to third in the table and just six points off arch-rivals Man City but with a game-in-hand.

There is also the prospect of an EFL Cup final against Newcastle United coming up, as well as the FA Cup and Europa League still being up for grabs.

However, when it comes to Rashford’s situation away from the pitch, there are some concerns among fans ahead of the 25-year-old’s deal expiring at the end of next season.

But opening up on the number 10’s future, Ten Hag has admitted the club are ‘working hard’ on reaching an agreement.

“Of course, it’s a priority, and we’re working on that,” the Dutchman said.

“Just sit, wait but in the background, we work hard.”
