Martin Dubravka won’t be remembered very fondly by Manchester United fans after his short loan stint at the club earlier this season, assessing two appearances but we could still end up with a cup winners’ medal if the Reds beat Newcastle at Wembley next weekend.
Even though Dubravka returned to Newcastle in January, it turns out he will only receive a Carabao Cup winners’ medal if the Magpies lose to Manchester United in the final.
How barmy is that? Does that mean Dubravka has to stand in on the photos if and when United lift their first trophy under Erik ten Hag.
To make it even better, Nick Pope was sent off against Liverpool this evening and will miss the final. Dubravka is cup-tied after featuring for the Reds earlier in the competition.
🗣️ “I really feel for Nick [Pope]. I don’t know the rules on the red card but it felt like a harsh decision.”

Due to competition rules, Dubravka will receive a medal but only if his former temporary club lift the trophy on February 26.
Former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius is set to start the final.
