Former Qatari Prime Minister linked with bid for Manchester United

Former Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani (HBJ) is linked with a bid for Manchester United.

HBJ has hotel and property investments in London, including the Connaught and Hyde Park, according to Rob Harris of Sky News.

The Raine Group have set a soft deadline for all interested parties to table their bids by tonight (February 17) at 10 pm UK time. There is interest coming from Qatar, the United States, Saudi Arabia and England, with the latter being from Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Chief Executive Officer of INEOS.

Glazer family set valuation of Red Devils

Whilst it is currently unconfirmed the scale of investment that current owners the Glazer family are willing to accept, the process could result in a full takeover of United. The Americans would demand a fee of around £5 billion for the transfer of ownership, despite the club being valued at one billion less than that amount by the New York Stock Exchange.

Stretty News will provide ongoing updates throughout the process over the coming days.
