Qatari investors will not dance to the Glazers’ tune

A fresh report from Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports claims the Glazer family want at least £5 billion for Manchester United, but Qatar are determined not to overpay.

We all know that the Glazers will sell to the highest bidder. They won’t care about the background of these investors, how they make their billionaires – as long as it’s hitting each and every single one of their bank accounts.

If Qatar are the ones to win the race for United, they will be the ones who dance to the Glazers’ carrot. All in the name of sportswashing.

According to Sky Sports, one insider says Qatari investors “will not dance to the Glazers’ tune if they decide to bid”; and Solhekol adds that they are willing to spend significant sums to restore the team and the club’s infrastructure (Carrington and Old Trafford) to its former glories.

The report adds that no final decision has been made but a bid is likely, while other outlets stress an offer will be made before Friday’s soft deadline.

Sky Sports add that the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani is a Manchester United supporter.

More like a supporter – or leader – in sportswashing.

The Emir was reportedly in Rome on Tuesday morning as he remained undecided about attending Paris Saint-Germain’s match against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, which ended in a 1-0 defeat for the Ligue 1 champions.

In another update on Sky Sports News (H/t Football Daily), Solhekol believes we should have a better idea of who the bidders are next week.

Let us know who you think will be successful in their attempts to buy United.
