Manchester United vs Newcastle: Officials confirmed for Carabao Cup final

David Coote will referee the Carabao Cup final between Manchester United and Newcastle at Wembley on Sunday 26 February.

The appointment was confirmed by the PGMOL on Tuesday evening, with the Reds facing Newcastle in their first cup final since 1999.

David Conte, 40, will be assisted by Nick Hopton and Tim Wood, while Simon Hooper has been appointed fourth official for the Wembley showdown.

VAR will be managed by Peter Bankes and he will be assisted by Eddie Smart.

How did Newcastle and Manchester United reach the final?

Newcastle are desperate for success, especially under their new Saudi Arabian owners, whereas United are looking to win their first (of many) trophy under Erik ten Hag.

The Magpies progressed by beating Southampton 3-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, United beat Nottingham Forest 5-0 on aggregate and a number of home draws in the domestic cups this season.

Season ticket holders will be hoping we get some aways in the FA Cup, should United beat West Ham in the fifth round on 1 March.
