Yesterday, the club released a statement indicating that the Glazer family who are majority owners of the club said they will "consider all strategic alternatives, including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions involving the company". The announcement came on the same day the club announced its star player, Cristiano Ronaldo, was leaving with immediate effect. (Photo by Christopher Furlong/Getty Images)

A bid from Qatar for Manchester United is expected to be made by the soft deadline for offers on Friday.

According to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Qatari investors were contacted towards the end of 2022 to probe their potential interest in making an offer for the club. The update also suggests they will not overpay.

The Red Devils’ current owners, the Glazer family, will only consider accepting bids of a minimum of £5 billion.

United garner takeover interest

There is also reported interest coming from Saudi Arabia, China, Singapore and America. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, CEO of INEOS chemicals group, will be a part of the bidding process. He is a boyhood United fan and seemingly the only English party in the race.

It is currently unconfirmed whether or not the Glazers will accept a full takeover or minority stake investment.

The deadline set by Raine Group is this Friday, February 17.
