Manchester United have identified a long-term McTominay replacement from fellow Premier League side

Reports suggest Manchester United are eyeing a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Ruben Neves.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, United could be forced to compete with Liverpool and Newcastle United to secure the midfielder’s signature this summer.

Neves reportedly had his sights set on a move to Spanish giants Barcelona, though Xavi and the board were uninterested in pursuing a deal. Now, he could look to make a switch to another Premier League side.

He will already be well-acquainted with possible teammates Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot if he opts for the Red Devils, due to their time together in the Portugal national team.

Neves to replace McTominay?

Erik ten Hag may have outlined the 25-year-old as a long-term replacement for Scott McTominay, who has been linked with an Old Trafford exit for several months. The Scotsman has undoubtedly fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Casemiro, and he could be seeking regular game time elsewhere at the end of the season.
