Erik ten Hag asks Manchester United to try their luck with Real Madrid star

Manchester United could move for Real Madrid star Federico Valverde in the summer.

The Red Devils signed Christian Eriksen and Casemiro to reinforce their midfield last summer. In January, Marcel Sabitzer joined from Bayern Munich on loan for the rest of the season.

According to Spanish publication, Nacional, Erik ten Hag has asked Manchester United to try their luck with a £58 million (€65m) offer to sign the Uruguay international, who is having a difficult spell at Real Madrid.

Liverpool were linked with a move for Valverde in the summer when it was thought that Jurgen Klopp could push the boat out to sign the Real Madrid midfielder. Florentino Perez deemed the player unsellable and turned down a mega-money offer from the Merseyside club. It is reported that manager Carlo Ancelotti was in agreement with the Real Madrid president.

The Uruguayan played a key role in helping Los Blancos win the league title as well as the Champions League last season. He started this season well but has struggled for form since the World Cup in Qatar. Valverde has not scored or assisted a goal in his previous 8 appearances.

Real Madrid are struggling as a result – sitting in second place, eight points adrift of league leaders Barcelona.

Let us know in the comments section if you would like United to sign Valverde. My thinking is it would take a bigger offer than £58m.
