Manchester United identify AS Roma star as back-up option to top striker targets

Manchester United have been linked with a potential move to AS Roma.

According to the Telegraph, Erik ten Hag has listed Tammy Abraham as a back-up option in the summer transfer window if Manchester United are unsuccessful in their attempts to sign either Harry Kane or Victor Osimhen.

Abraham has scored 34 goals in 81 games since signing for Roma – but he has not been as prolific this season.

However, with five goal contributions in his last five matches, I’m sure Jose Mourinho is satisfied with the Englishman’s output.

The former Chelsea striker may want to return to the Premier League at some point in his career because he has a point to prove in his homeland. Only time will tell if United are interested enough to give him that opportunity.

“I’m in no hurry to get back to the Premier League because I can express my way of playing here,” Abraham told Corriere dello Sport last summer. “In Italy I feel happy in every respect. Believe me, I am not thinking of the future, but only about the present. I focus exclusively on the season that is about to begin, because I want it to be even more rewarding than the first I experienced in Italy.”

Other strikers linked with a move to United include Benjamin Sesko, Dusan Vlahovic and Goncalo Ramos.

Stretty News verdict

United need to sign a top class goalscorer in the summer and I don’t think Abraham fits into that category.

This article has already named better suited options than the AS Roma striker, and I don’t think the Serie A club would be willing to let him go on the cheap.
