Manchester United team news vs Leeds: Antony ruled out

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag spoke to reporters this afternoon ahead of the upcoming match against Leeds at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are looking to build on their winning run at Old Trafford to 14 games.

A manager-less Leeds stand in our way – not only tonight, but at the weekend too. Former Manchester United coach Chris Armas is set to take charge for the two games following Jesse Marsch’s sacking on Monday.

United were dealt a blow at the weekend when Casemiro was given a straight red card, so he will miss the next three games after Erik ten Hag confirmed that the club will not be appealing the suspension.

When asked if he considered appealing the Brazilian’s ban, the manager told reporters (via Manchester Evening News): “Yeah, for me it wasn’t the right decision but I don’t think we have a chance in a legal process.”

Fellow Brazil international Antony is also missing for the game. The winger was substituted at the weekend after a rash challenge from Jeffrey Schlupp and I can’t help but think people like Darren Ambrose at talkSPORT will be over the moon to hear about Antony’s injury…

Antony joins Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay in the treatment room, while Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen remain on the long-term absentee list.

“They [Martial and McTominay] are not involved tomorrow,” Ten Hag added, as per ManUtd.com. “And the same with Antony dos Santos. He is also not available for tomorrow so we have to sort that out.”

This could mean Jadon Sancho gets the nod from the start but only time will tell.

Meanwhile, Leeds could be missing a few players tomorrow night. Stuart Dallas, Adam Forshaw, Archie Gray, Sonny Perkins and Rodrigo are all doubts.
