Manchester United are being linked with a move for Real Madrid midfield star Federico Valverde.
The 24-year-old has made 177 appearances for Los Blancos and has already won seven trophies with Madrid. As one of Carlo Ancelotti’s best players, it won’t be easy for Manchester United to convince the Spanish giants to sell Valverde — despite talk of an €80m bid.
According to El Nacional, United are prepared to pay €80m for Valverde — which sounds a bit fishy at a time the club were unable to spend heavily in the January transfer window.
There is a lot of things that could happen if there is a successful takeover at the club this year, but we are still waiting for the Glazers to find a buyer, and that is why I find these transfer links a little premature.
Sure, Valverde may be one of Ten Hag’s targets for the summer – but to say United are prepared to pay €80m seems a stretch. Even if I think that bid would be rejected by Real Madrid.
There is nothing to indicate that Valverde is ready to leave the Bernabeu and even if he were, Madrid are likely to demand more than €80m for a player that is under contract until June 2027 (via Transfermarkt).
