News emerged this afternoon that charges of attempted rape and assault have been dropped against Mason Greenwood.
The 21-year-old was arrested a year ago amid allegations surrounding a series of images and video that were uploaded to social media.
An update from the Crown Prosecution Service said the charges were discontinued after key witnesses withdrew their involvement in the case.
Manchester United have now broken their silence after suspending Greenwood when the allegations surfaced in January 2022.
A statement from the club reads (via Andy Mitten): “Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped. The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete.”
