(Video) Christian Eriksen leaves Old Trafford on crutches with foot in protective boot

Manchester United have been dealt a worrying blow as Christian Eriksen was spotted leaving Old Trafford on Saturday night with the help of crutches.

The Denmark international has been an important player for Manchester United since his free transfer to the club last summer.

Eriksen was subject to lots of heavy tackling against Reading, but it was Andy Carroll who put in a hefty challenge on the midfielder early in the second half.

Carroll had lost the ball with a heavy touch before his poorly timed lunge on Eriksen.

No card was issued to Carroll but he was later sent off for more dangerous tackles.

Eriksen was spotted leaving Old Trafford on crutches and waring a protective boot after the match.

Erik ten Hag confirms ankle injury

The manager was asked about Eriksen’s injury after the match.

“It’s always difficult to say in this moment so short after the game has finished,” Ten Hag said, as quoted by ManUtd.com.

“But it’s an ankle [problem]. We have to see what is the diagnosis, so it costs us a minimum of 24 hours before we know that and then I can say more.”
