Manchester United make enquiry over AS Monaco defender

The January transfer window is set to shut. Manchester United have made two loan signings this month, but there are still suggestions that they could make another addition before the deadline.

Manchester United have reportedly made contact with AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi.

The 24-year-old, who stands at 6ft 3in, has made 108 appearances for Monaco, registering an impressive 10 goals and four assists in the process. Even though he primarily plays at centre-back, Disasi can also play at right-back, which we can only imagine would appeal to the manager.

French publication Telefoot claim United have approached Monaco to discuss the Frenchman’s availability this winter, whilst a summer move looks more likely. They note that Disasi is also attracting interest from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Erik ten Hag added six players to his squad in the summer but there is still a lot of work to be done before he completes his rebuild. The first loan move in January saw Jack Butland arrive from Crystal Palace before Wout Weghorst joined from Burnley. Both players are scheduled to return to their clubs at the end of the season.

Another area Ten Hag could look to bolster is centre-back, with Harry Maguire’s future becoming increasingly clear after falling behind Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw in the pecking order.

Victor Lindelof’s future is also up in the air as the Sweden captain has less than 2-years remaining on his contract. That said, United have the option to extend his contract for an additional season.
