Paul Ince knew he would be asked about returning to Old Trafford this weekend in the FA Cup. The Reading manager claims he “is not bothered” about his former club but went on to speak about how big of an occasion it will be for his players.
The former Manchester United midfielder joined the club from West Ham in 1989 and went on to enjoy great success under Sir Alex Ferguson. That was before he left for Inter Milan and later signed for Liverpool.
After retiring from football, Ince took to football management, and he is currently in charge of Reading. They go into the game after a 4-0 defeat against Stoke City last weekend, so it goes without saying that United are favourites to reach the fifth round on Saturday.
When asked about his return to Old Trafford, Ince gave a brutal response, saying (via Manchester Evening News): “I’m not bothered about Manchester United, to be perfectly honest. It’s a great draw for the fans and financially it will be great for the club.
“But for me, it’s just another distraction. It’s a fantastic day out [for Reading supporters], I’m just disappointed it’s on a Saturday evening at 8pm on ITV with our fans who have got to get up there and back.
“Anybody would love the opportunity to play at Old Trafford, I played there for six years and won some fantastic trophies there. It’s the Theatre of Dreams, so for our players to experience that will be great.
“It takes the Championship stress away, but it’ll be a great day for the fans.”
Ince is usually bitter when it comes to United – for one reason or another – so we should all take these comments with a pinch of salt.
Let’s send them away on Saturday with their tails between their legs.
Ince is not fit to be called a United legend. He thinks he is bigger than United. Calling himself the ‘Guvnor’. He was s just olain shit. He knows that he will get beaten and just acting kike he is not nervous but actual facts his balls is shrinking. Pathethic player he is.
