Paul Ince hopes unstoppable Marcus Rashford is benched for FA Cup clash

Reading manager Paul Ince hopes to see the ‘unplayable’ Marcus Rashford benched for this weekend’s FA Cup clash at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford is in the form of his life right now. While Gareth Southgate doesn’t want to accept that he overlooked England’s best player throughout the World Cup, Manchester United fans are thrilled to see their academy graduate reach peak form this season.

It wasn’t long ago that Rashford was regular subject to criticism. However, under Erik ten Hag, he looks a completely different footballer. Defenders in the Premier League don’t know what has hit them!

Speaking ahead of Reading’s trip to Old Trafford, former United midfielder Ince spoke about Rashford.

“Hopefully he’s not going to play,” Ince told reporters, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “I was a bit disappointed they won 3-0 the other night because he might play against us now because it looks like that tie is more or less over. Like any player, it’s all about confidence and the right manager coming in and noticing how to build confidence. It is never easy because we saw in the past two years he had lost some of it.

“To see him doing what he does best is great for Manchester United and their fans. He is unplayable at the moment, unstoppable. The goal he scored against Forest showed what type of form he is in. We can’t be thinking about stopping Rashford though.

“They have so many top players – Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes, Wout Weghorst who got his first goal against Forest. It’s not about us stopping players, it’s about us going there and putting in a performance.”

The match will be shown live on ITV4 with a kick-off time of 8pm GMT.

United beat Everton 3-1 at Old Trafford in the previous round and will be looking for a similar result on Saturday night. None of us have reason to fear Ince’s side.
