Man United considering late loan move for La Liga striker

Admittedly, this one has come out of nowhere, but according to recent reports, Manchester United are one of several Premier League clubs considering making a late loan approach for Real Betis striker Borja Iglesias.

That’s according to a recent report from Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, who claim the Red Devils, along with Brighton, Brentford and Fulham, are all monitoring the 30-year-old forward.

United have already reinforced their striking options after bringing in Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley earlier in the month. However, rumoured to want another forward in before the end of the January transfer window, manager Erik Ten Hag is understood to have turned his attention to La Liga.

Iglesias, 30, has spent his entire career in La Liga. Part of Valencia’s youth academy, the experienced striker then enjoyed spells with Villarreal, Celta Vigo, Real Zaragoza, Espanyol and finally Betis.

Presumably keen to challenge himself in a different league, Iglesias could find himself in the Premier League before next month, whether that is at Old Trafford or not remains to be seen, but Betis are reportedly open to the idea of seeing the 30-year-old depart.

Since joining Betis from Espanyol back in 2019, Iglesias, who has three years left on his deal, has gone on to feature in 146 matches, in all competitions, directly contributing to 77 goals along the way.
