Manchester United target Harry Kane open to signing new Tottenham deal

Tottenham Hotspur look far from settled under Antonio Conte. The only thing they have going for them this season has been Harry Kane’s ability to score goals and now questions are being asked about a potential transfer to Manchester United in the summer.

Harry Kane’s current deal expires in 18 months and it is no secret that he wanted to leave Tottenham in 2021, when a potential switch to Man City failed to materialise. To the 29-year-old’s credit, he has continued to lead by example at Spurs and they will do all in their power to keep him at the club.

Something that will always be aimed at Kane is the fact he’s never won a trophy. Once he gets Jimmy Greaves’ goal record out of the way, it could be time for the England captain to move elsewhere and become a winner.

United have a lot of things going for us now which wasn’t the case 12 months ago. We’ve got a new manager, who is currently exceeding expectations with his current squad, and you’d imagine the top players would want to come play under him.

However, according to The Athletic, Kane is open to signing a new deal at Tottenham. It is believed that how their current season ends will be a key factor as Antonio Conte’s side remain in the FA Cup and the Champions League.

Spurs don’t have all the time in the world and talks are expected to take place with Kane after the January transfer window. If they can’t come to an agreement, Daniel Levy will need to decide whether to look to sell Kane or let him go into the final year of his contract.

It has already been suggested in some media circles that Kane is keen to join United.

Who else are United looking at?

Multiple reports claim Manchester United have a shortlist of goalscoring targets for next season.

While it includes Kane, there are other names that carry just as much excitement, including Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. The 23-year-old has scored nine goals in 13 games this season for the Serie A leaders.

Other players that are worth keeping an eye on are RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos, and Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus.

I think Ten Hag should look to sign someone younger than Kane, like Osimhen, though that will depend on whether Manchester United can find new buyers this year.
