Team news: Manchester United travel to Selhurst Park for midweek Crystal Palace clash

Team news for Manchester United’s midweek Premier League clash with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The Reds have made their way to London and will be preparing for tonight’s 8pm kick-off against 12th-placed Palace. A win can take United above Manchester City to second place, six points behind league leaders Arsenal and eight points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in fifth.

United have only overseen one loss in 19 matches and are on a run of nine consecutive wins, if they pick up their 10th tonight, it will be the first time since 2009 they have done so.

United team news

Anthony Martial’s participation in tonight’s fixture remains up in the air. He left the Manchester derby at halftime and has struggled with several different injuries since the season began. Given the addition of loan signing Wout Weghorst, Erik ten Hag may be unwilling to take the risk of deploying the Frenchman and worsening his fitness levels.

Diogo Dalot is also a doubt after picking up an injury against Charlton Athletic. He missed Saturday’s game and Aaron Wan-Bissaka has performed well in his absence, so the manager will face no pressure to rush Dalot back to action.

Jadon Sancho has fortunately returned to first-team training, though he is unlikely to be named in the squad as soon as tonight. Still, it gives Ten Hag a huge boost that the 22-year-old will be an option in the coming weeks.

Jack Butland is ineligible to feature in the matchday squad due to the opponents being his parent club.

Palace team news

Joachim Anderson was unable to continue in Palace’s meeting with Chelsea on Sunday, so Patrick Vieira will be awaiting confirmation on his fitness ahead of hosting the Red Devils.

Nathan Ferguson and James McArthur will be sidelined.
