Marcus Rashford’s match-winner in the Manchester derby saw him become the first player since Dennis Viollet in 1959 to score in nine consecutive home matches for Manchester United.

The Manchester United forward was at the centre of the controversy that surrounded Bruno Fernandes’ equaliser just four minutes earlier before he completed a quick-fire comeback with his 16th goal of the season. Pep Guardiola and Manuel Akanji both complained about it in their post-match interviews, which in my opinion only adds to the win itself.

It is a common belief that we are now seeing Rashford at his best, which is some turnaround when you consider how his future appeared up in the air just one year ago, with his return of eight goals in seven matches since he returned from the World Cup.

That alone should tell you how important Rashford is in Ten Hag’s side. By equalling a record set in 1959, as per the Statman Dave, it shows how much the 25-year-old has improved under the Dutchman.

But he isn’t alone on that note. Take a look at Diogo Dalot, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw and Fred. They have al performed at high levels this season, despite all being subject of heavy criticism a year ago.

Nobody can deny that Ten Hag is getting the most out of these players.
