Alejandro Garnacho breaks record after assist in Manchester derby

Academy graduate Alejandro Garnacho has become the youngest player to assist a goal in a Manchester derby.

It was another game-changing substitution from Erik ten Hag, which is something we are becoming familiar with as the team makes more progress, as Garnacho caused havoc down the left flank for United.

This time last year, Garnacho was just kicking off his FA Youth Cup run, and he is now contributing goals for the first team in Manchester derbies. It has been a sensational rise to prominence for the young forward and Ten Hag is getting the best out of him.

Garnacho came on with 18 minutes of normal time left on the clock and his performance was electric. I thought he’d be up against it with Kyle Walker but the youngster was a constant threat.

According to Opta Joe, Garnacho’s assist for Marcus Rashford’s match-winner makes him the youngest player to assist a goal in a Manchester derby.

That’s an incredible stat to have next to your name and it won’t be long before he scores against them if he keeps developing.
