(Video) Wout Weghorst appears to say ‘bye’ to Besiktas fans amid Manchester United links

Wout Weghorst appeared to say goodbye to Besiktas fans with reports that a move to Manchester United is on the cards.

The Dutch international is currently on loan from Burnley but has been identified by Manchester United as a January transfer target.

It goes without saying that Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit last month put further pressure on Erik ten Hag to sign a centre-forward in January. After missing out on Cody Gakpo to Liverpool, the newspapers were briefed that United were prioritising loan moves this month.

As things stand, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are Ten Hag’s only established forwards who can play centrally.

Weghorst scored for Besiktas in a Super Lig win over Kasimpasa on Saturday and shared an emotional moment with the fans, who clearly have a special bond with the striker, and he appeared to say “bye bye” as he bagged his 10th goal of the season.

This all comes after a report from Foot Mercato suggested that Weghorst is set to join United with a deal ‘almost complete’, but we shouldn’t ignore the fact that we are being linked to a number of strikers in the transfer market.

Let us know in the comments section if you think Weghorst would be a good signing for United.
