Frank Lampard speaks about Everton future ahead of FA Cup clash vs Manchester United

Everton manager Frank Lampard is feeling the pressure after Tuesday night’s 4-1 defeat at home to Brighton and Hove Albion. Many think the former England midfielder’s days are numbered at Goodison since they’ve only managed to win three league matches all season.

It was Everton’s third home defeat in a row and they travel to Manchester United in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday night. We will go into the game as distant favourites, while there is a chance it could be Lampard’s final game in charge – if they suffered a savage beating at the hands of the Red Devils.

Following the 4-1 loss to Brighton, Lampard was asked whether he was worried about his job, to which he responded (via Manchester Evening News): “You are working always, the only concern you can have is the work you do the next day because since the minute I got here we were in a relegation battle and that is something tart you have to handle and it might mean results or days like this and you just have to focus on going again because it is the things you can control, simple as that.”

He added: “Since I have been in here we have been in this situation, of a relegation battle last year and through this season really, so it’s not a case of fear [for the future], it’s a case of just keep working.

“I can’t control the talk or the decisions, when you around this area of the table this is what happens. You lose a game like this, I absolutely understand any reaction. I don’t listen to too much of it because if you do it becomes your focal point, so I don’t focus on it.”

Meanwhile, United’s 3-0 victory over Bournemouth saw United bridge a gap between fifth and fourth. Erik ten Hag will hope his team can book their place in the latter stages of the FA Cup to boost of chances of winning a trophy in his first season as manager.
