Cristiano Ronaldo departed Manchester United in November after speaking out against the club during an interview with Piers Morgan. The Portuguese superstar also criticised manager Erik ten Hag, which is the straw that broke the camel’s back with a lot of fans.
The interview took place two months ago as Ronaldo expressed his desire to play at the top level, with or without United, but this week he was unveiled as a signing for Saudi Arabia club Al-Nassr.
Talk about a drop in standards.
Publico report that Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo’s agent, was looking for elite clubs to sign his client. He later concluded that Old Trafford was Ronaldo’s only option – but he was unhappy about having a secondary role in Ten Hag’s side.
It is stated that Ronaldo and Mendes were in disagreement over the situation, which you can only imagine made the 37-year-old more frustrated. He didn’t have his agent in his corner at a time his career was set to collapse.
Ronaldo had a terrible season for United this time around, and he looked even worse at the World Cup before losing his place in the Portugal team to Goncalo Ramos. He has been no loss for United who are on a four game win streak.
According to The Athletic, Mendes was absent in negotiations with Al-Nassr, with Ronaldo’s close friend Ricardo Regufe leading the talks.
Maybe Ronaldo and Mendes will soon put a complete end to doing business together.
