Newcastle have recalled Martin Dubravka prematurely from his season-long loan at Manchester United.
The goalkeeper made just two competitive appearances for United and both came in the Carabao Cup against Aston Villa and Burnley.
Dubravka kept a clean sheet in his last outing at Old Trafford.
According to Chris Wheeler, the decision was Newcastle’s and it leaves the Red Devils with two alternatives in the position to backup David de Gea; Tom Heaton and Nathan Bishop.
Decision to recall Dubravka understood to be Newcastle's. Utd still have Tom Heaton and Nathan Bishop, and have not decided whether to sign another keeper yet. #mufc

United undecided on signing ‘keeper
Laurie Whitwell also confirmed that the Reds have not yet decided if they will be bringing in a replacement after losing Dubravka. They have been actively monitoring the goalkeeper market for some time, though De Gea is unlikely to lose his spot as No.1 this season.
Newcastle have recalled Martin Dubravka. No decision from #MUFC in bringing in a replacement. Tom Heaton has wanted more game-time.
Dubravka only played two games after signing on loan.

The January transfer window is now officially open and the Magpies’ action may force United’s hand in seeking another option between the sticks.
After the calamitous performance against Burnley, I am glad he will not feature anymore for us!
