Wes Brown backs Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to Al-Nassr

Wes Brown says Cristiano Ronaldo should be remembered fondly for what he achieved as a Manchester United player, even though he left the club last month under a grey cloud.

Manchester United terminated Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract by mutual consent in early December after he took aim at the club and Erik ten Hag in an bombshell interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV.

After filling Morgan’s head with crap about still being able to play at the highest level, Ronaldo has now joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr – which is a far cry away from the Champions League club he was hoping for.

To make Ronaldo feel better about his switch to Saudi Arabia, Al-Nassr are giving him a deal said to be worth £177m-per-year.

A number of former United players, who played with Ronaldo, have given their verdicts on Ronaldo’s move to Al-Nassr. Gary Neville is saddened at the fact we won’t see Ronaldo play on the biggest stages anymore.

Meanwhile, Wes Boom believes the five-time Ballon d’Or winner should still be remembered fondly back at Old Trafford.

“Ultimately, he tried to go in the summer and there was nothing really here for him.

“I’m not sure what clubs [were in] but the clubs he wanted to come in just didn’t,” Brown told The Metro.

“Ultimately, it is crazy money for him. It will be a bit different for him, it will be a different experience for him.

“But regardless, he is a legend of the game and whatever people say, as a Manchester United fan, he will always be a legend at the club.

“We achieved so much when he was there, we have to wish him the best. There isn’t long left now, he just needs to enjoy it and play as much as he can.

“It is a bit different for him but it also depends on what the family all agree on and what they all agree on too.”

At the Carabao Cup game against Burnley last week, United fans sang a new chant about Ronaldo.

‘I don’t care about Ronnie, he don’t care about me, all I care about is MUFC’!
