Manchester United consider move for Real Madrid star with contract set to expire

Manchester United are reportedly plotting a move for Real Madrid star Marco Asensio.

The Spaniard’s contract at Real Madrid is set to expire at the end of the season, which means he is bound to get linked to several clubs including Manchester United.

These links are predictable. Asensio may have played as a false nine for Spain at the World Cup, but Manchester United need to sign a centre-forward and not a player that can be best described as an attacking midfielder.

According to Defensa Central, Manchester United are plotting a move to sign Asensio in January.

Asensio hasn’t played a lot of football this season for Real Madrid (426 minutes) and there may be a chance to get him on loan. That wouldn’t be the worst idea if we could secure a deal for a striker in the same window, but the latter must be Ten Hag’s priority when the transfer window opens.

It remains to be seen if Asensio will agree new terms with Real Madrid. If nothing is sorted in the coming days, he will be open to talk to foreign clubs about a future move.
