Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United exit may help club in pursuit of Joao Felix

Joao Felix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is open to agreeing a deal with Manchester United for the transfer of the Atletico Madrid star.

According to Relevo, Mendes, who is also the agent of Cristiano Ronaldo, is keen on making amends with the Red Devils after the 37-year-old’s unsavoury exit from the club in November.

The Portugal captain’s departure came after his explosive interview in which he made allegations about the club, the owners, the board and former teammates. It was announced shortly after that United and Ronaldo had reached an agreement to terminate his contract early, with it originally set to expire in the summer.

United in the race for Joao Felix

Whilst Ronaldo is still seeking a new club, fellow Portugal international Felix is seeking an escape plan from Atletico after his relationship with Diego Simeone has broken down.

United have been named as one club in the race for the 23-year-old, as well as Premier League rivals Chelsea and Arsenal. The Spanish report suggests the Ronaldo situation may now benefit Erik ten Hag’s side in pursuit of the forward, and that Mendes has “intensified” contact with the Reds in recent weeks in regards to Felix.
