Manchester United overtake Liverpool in race for Enzo Fernandez

There is nothing quite like overtaking Liverpool.

When Sir Alex Ferguson set his mind to the challenge of knocking Liverpool off their perch, not many could see how he would oversee Manchester United’s 20th league triumph. He did and we have all lived to tell the tale.

Well, UOL Esporte claim the same has happened again – in the shape of a transfer pursuit to sign Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

The report suggests Manchester United have warned that they are willing to pay the 21-year-old’s release clause, which is worth €120million. That alone puts them in a stronger position than Liverpool to sign Enzo Fernandez.

The annoying part about this transfer saga is United had the chance to sign him before Benfica last summer. By waiting 12-months longer for him to win the World Cup, a transfer could cost north of €100million!

After being crowned the best young player at the World Cup, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that some of the big clubs are beginning to chase Enzo, but United’s interest is long standing.
