(Video) Marcus Rashford reflects on returning from World Cup heartbreak after Burnley win

Marcus Rashford continued his fine form this season by scoring a special goal against Burnley in Manchester United’s return to competitive football in the Carabao Cup.

The 25-year-old has been in sparkling form this season and was England’s joint-top goalscorer at this winter’s World Cup. His three goals helped England to the quarter-finals but Gareth Southgate’s men were dealt a heartbreaking blow after narrowingly losing to France at that stage.

Speaking after helping United into the quarter-finals of this year’s Carabao Cup, Rashford has explained what the transition from returning to club football from that setback has been like.

“To be honest, it’s more just emotion-wise,” Rashford told Football Daily after the game, as seen above.

“Obviously, it’s such a disappointing feeling to get knocked out and you have to just try and pick yourself back up because there’s no time to feel sorry for yourself when you come back here.

“It’s just about getting results and I’m thankful we’ve done that today. We’ve just got to recover and try to do the same in the next game.”

United will now begin preparing for their return to Premier League action as they welcome Nottingham Forest to Old Trafford on December 27.
