Rashford impresses again: player ratings from Manchester United 2-0 Burnley

Manchester United have secured their passage to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup after somewhat comfortably dispatching Vincent Kompany’s Burnley at Old Trafford.

The Championship leaders came into the game high in confidence, losing just two out of their 23 league games so far this season. The early resumption of the Championship also gave the visitors an advantage.

Erik ten Hag named a strong side, however, with five returning World Cup stars named among the 11 players. Christian Eriksen and Marcus Rashford were two of them and the pair’s goals, either side of half-time, were enough to send United through to the next round.

Man United Player Ratings

Martin Dubravka – 7
Made a couple of impressive saves but did not impress with the ball at his feet. Commanding in the area.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 8
With Diogo Dalot out due to injury, tonight was Wan-Bissaka’s time to leave a lasting impression on Ten Hag and although only the Dutchman will know if the defender succeeded, he definitely put it one of his better performances this calendar year.

Victor Lindelof – 7
Much like in Wan-Bissaka’s case, absences in his position meant that Lindelof was the only available centre-back and his audition went fine.

Casemiro – 7
An unfamiliar role at centre-back and with all things considered, he passed the test.

Tyrell Malacia – 6
The 23-year-old enjoyed a flying start to life at Old Trafford but he’s now the second-choice left-back. Once again, he showed that he still has a bit to learn before Ten Hag can trust him fully.

Scott McTominay – 6
A worrying amount of misplaced passes but did as well as ever in his duels.

Christian Eriksen – 7
Back in the side to remind the people of his class.

Marcus Rashford – 9
Quiet in periods but exploded into life when it mattered. His second-half strike was utterly glorious.

Bruno Fernandes – 7
The engine of United’s chance-creating. His first half of the season was superb and hopefully, he keeps this form up.

Alejandro Garnacho – 6
Spurned a fantastic chance in the first half and struggled for most of the game.

Anthony Martial – 7
A fully fit Martial is an asset to this side and that was on display against Burnley.

  1. With this rating, yet, Erik ten Hag does not find Wan Bissaka worthy to play for Man U again. He is not a Dutch.

    1. I normally say this but people always turn against me ….this man is more of a dutch than a manchester United coach
