Raphael Varane played a significant part in the build-up to France’s first goal.
The Manchester United centre-back received the ball in his own half and strode forward before playing an exceptional line-breaking pass through to Antoine Griezmann, which ultimately led to Theo Hernandez’s opener.
Griezmann played a cross into the box which was initially missed by Kylian Mbappe but the 23-year-old was then able to fire a shot that was deflected towards Hernandez, who saw his effort hit the back of the net.
Les Bleus lead Morocco 1-0 at halftime. A place in the final against Argentina is up for grabs, meaning Varane may face fellow Red Lisandro Martinez.
