Raphael Varane is a World Cup finalist again with France

Manchester United’s Raphael Varane has reached the World Cup final with France.

He played the full 90 minutes as Les Bleus oversaw a 2-0 win against Morocco on Wednesday evening to book their place in the final stage of the competition, in which they will face Argentina.

The 29-year-old played an exceptional line-breaking pass in the build-up to France’s opening goal of the match, which was netted by Theo Hernandez.

France have the chance to go back-to-back as world champions for the first time since Brazil achieved it in 1962.

Varane and Martinez are the final two United players in Qatar

Varane will come up against the other half of his centre-back partnership at United, Lisandro Martinez, who has been a key player for his national team throughout the tournament.

When the two Reds return from Qatar they will be granted seven days of rest, meaning they will not feature in the Premier League match against Nottingham Forest on December 27.

Best of luck to both players in their quest to become champions on Sunday, December 18.
