Manchester United hero Robin van Persie has returned to Carrington after the legendary forward was invited by manager Erik ten Hag.

Van Persie is currently gaining experience as a coach at Feyenoord but with the club season currently paused to accommodate this winter’s World Cup, the Dutchman has been seen back in Manchester.

The former Arsenal star has been retired for three years and he almost immediately took up the chance to go into coaching with Feyenoord.

He was even rumoured to be part of the team Ten Hag wanted to build at Old Trafford but he remained in the Eredivisie. Now, club has explained why he is at Carrington.

As per the official Manchester United website, Van Persie is at Carrington to gain valuable coaching experience and he is pictured alongside coach Benni McCarthy.

Furthermore, Van Persie was snapped alongside youngsters Facundo Pellistri and Alejandro Garnacho.
