Amazon mooted as potential Manchester United suitors

Unless you have been asleep under a rock for the past three weeks, you will be ware of the Glazer family’s intentions to sell Manchester United after running the club into the ground financially over the past 17-years.

Like every media outlet that covers Manchester United, we have been working hard to find out who the early candidates are for a potential takeover. The Glazers are believed to be pushing The Raine Group to conduct a sale by spring, so we are bound to hear something soon.

The Athletic have published a fantastic report on the what they’re hearing about the sale of Manchester United, written by Laurie Whitwell and others. They claim that global brand Amazon have been ‘mooted’ as possible bidders for United.

However, a spokesperson from Amazon told the publication: “Amazon declined to comment on rumour and speculation.”

Amazon already invest money in football as they have a sleeve sponsorship with Serie A side Napoli. On top of that, they broadcast two Premier League matchdays on Amazon Prime each season.

Executive chairman, Jeff Bezos, is one of the richest people in the world and has often been linked with buying Premier League clubs.

Could Bezos be about to buy the biggest football club in the world?
