Manchester United renew interest in Napoli defender after impressive World Cup displays

Manchester United are being linked with a move for South Korean central defender Kim Min-jae.

Min-jae has been one of the most impressive performers in Serie A this season as Napoli sit on top of the table — 8 points clear of AC Milan in second place. The 26-year-old carried that form into the World Cup but South Korea only managed to reach the round of 16, losing 4-1 against Brazil.

According to The Mirror, Manchester United have renewed their interest in Min-jae 18 months after being offered him for £3 million before he left Chinese side Beijing Sinobo Guoan.

That was when Fenerbache nipped in and got him on the cheap. A year later they sold him to Napoli for £16 million – making £13 million in profit on the player.

The report states that Napoli are beginning to worry about the £38 million release clause in his contract because it leaves them vulnerable to bids from the likes of United.

To counter this, the Italian side may look to offer Min-jae fresh terms.
