Bruno Fernandes is maintaining his spectacular form for Portugal at this winter’s World Cup as Portugal have one foot in the quarter-finals, where they will face Morocco if they manage to beat Switzerland.
With minutes remaining of the first half, Portugal have a two-goal lead and are on their way to improving on their round-of-16 exit to Uruguay four years ago in Russia.
As expected, Manchester United star Fernandes was named in the starting line-up and the 28-year-old is proving exactly why he is regarded as one of the best around.
Goncalo Ramos scored the first goal for Portugal and now, they have added a second through former Real Madrid defender Pepe. The 39-year-old planted a bullet header past Yann Sommer after meeting Fernandes’ perfect corner, as seen below.
Pepe becomes the second oldest scorer at a World Cup with his first international goals for over 4 years!! 🇵🇹

Fernandes now has three assists and two goals in just three appearances in Qatar. Last week, the statistical website WhoScored named the Old Trafford star as the player of the group stage.
If Portugal continue to do well and potentially even reach the final, it is highly likely that Fernandes could win that award for real.
