Three Lions top group as Marcus Rashford reaches World Cup milestone in England shirt

England go through as group winners after beating Wales 3-0. Gareth Southgate’s side will take on Senegal in the last 16.

Three Manchester United players featured in the England XI, including Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford.

After playing out a nervy draw against the United States last time out, Southgate’s men ensured they will be topping the group with a convincing win over Wales. That said, it took the Three Lions 45 minutes to wake up.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring with a stunning free-kick in the second half, while Manchester City’s Phil Foden doubled the lead just minutes later. The Manchester United forward made it 3-0 to score England’s 100th World Cup goal after cutting in from the right flank and showcasing a variety of wonderful skills.

It took Rashford’s tally to three at the World Cup which is enough to put him into the history books. He becomes the first Manchester United player to score three goals at a major tournament for England since Sir Bobby Charlton at the 1966 World Cup.

Wales crash out of the World Cup as a result.

USA are beating Iran 1-0 and look set to finish the group as runners-up.
