Lee Sharpe questions Roy Keane’s blind support of Cristiano Ronaldo

Roy Keane has continued to defend Cristiano Ronaldo despite the Portuguese’s bitter ending to his Manchester United.

On Tuesday evening, it was confirmed that Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo have mutually agreed to terminate his contract after the 37-year-old’s interview with Piers Morgan.

While working as a pundit for the World Cup on ITV, Keane was asked about Ronaldo’s situation.

He said: “I think it has been on the cards for the last few months. Obviously, the interview was the tipping point. It is like a divorce the end of a relationship.

“The new manager was never going to play him. You can’t have Ronaldo as a fringe player, it’s just not right.”

Former Manchester United winger Lee Sharpe thinks it’s ‘difficult’ for Roy Keane to continue to defend Ronaldo.

“Roy Keane is a big fan of Ronaldo because he knows how many goals he can score and what he can do on the pitch,” Sharpe told OLBG. “If Ronaldo played more games and was match-fit, he would probably score more goals so I can see where Keane is coming from. But it will be difficult for Keane to be on Ronaldo’s side after his criticism of the club.”
