Fabrizio Romano urges Manchester United to sign young forward in January

Fabrizio Romano has urged Manchester United to sign young forward Jonathan David in the January transfer window.

He had already confirmed the club’s intentions to sign a striker in the winter following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, who left through a mutual agreement with United to terminate his contract early.

Now, the Red Devils will look to bolster their attacking options. The striker department at Old Trafford is already significantly depleted, so reinforcements are crucial. Their main options currently are Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, with the latter struggling to maintain fitness.

Romano suggested David as an option for the Reds in his Daily Briefing. He said: “Personally, I always mention Jonathan David as smart solution for United or other clubs. I already said it a few times; young, talented, available for £43 million. But let’s see what United decide to do.”

Is David a plausible option?

The 22-year-old  has netted nine goals and three assists for Lille this season and is the French side’s main man in attack. He scored 15 league goals across 2021/2022 in a campaign that saw his club win the Ligue 1 title against all odds.

The World Cup provides a great opportunity to watch him in action, as he will be representing Canada throughout the competition.
