The FA include Old Trafford in UK and Ireland’s preliminary bid to host Euro 2028

The FA has included Old Trafford in the list of stadiums and cities to host the UEFA Euro 2028 tournament in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

International football could return to the Theatre of Dreams should the bid be accepted by UEFA. Manchester United’s home hosted matches for the Women’s Euro 2022 earlier this year, which went on to be won by the Lionesses.

England men’s team will also play a Euro 2024 qualifying match against North Macedonia at Old Trafford 0n Monday, June 19 2023.

History was made for the Three Lions in Manchester when David Beckham netted a remarkable free-kick in front of the Stretford End when playing a World Cup qualifier against Greece in October 2001.

What other stadiums made the list?

The FA have put forward 14 stadiums in consideration for possible venues, including the likes of Villa Park, Wembley, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, St James’ Park and Dublin Arena. Two notable omissions are Anfield and the Emirates.
