(Video) Jesse Lingard reacts to Cristiano Ronaldo controversy at Man United

Manchester United recently secured three huge points in the Premier League and the talking point should be Alejandro Garnacho’s breathtaking winner in the 93rd minute but instead, Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview with Piers Morgan is doing the rounds.

In the ill-advised interview, the 37-year-old takes aim at pundits, the club, Erik ten Hag, Wayne Rooney and several others in a bid to clear the air following a disastrous start to the season for him personally.

The entire world is eagerly awaiting the full release of Ronaldo’s interview, with only snippets published so far. Jesse Lingard, the former United midfielder who shared a dressing-room with Ronaldo last season, has become the latest person to react to the controversy.

“It’s (Ronaldo’s) situation, do you know what I mean?” Lingard told talkSPORT, as seen above. “I had my own situation with the club, obviously we kept it behind closed doors.

“But we still ended on good terms, of course. I still support the club. But obviously, that’s his situation. I don’t know what’s been said or what’s happened between him and the manager.

“That’s not my place, I can’t really comment on something I don’t really know too much of. Like I said, it’s his situation and that’s how he’s dealing with it.

“Football’s crazy sometimes and you know, Ronaldo’s the greatest player in the world, do you know what I mean? He must be hurting but like I said, I can’t comment on that situation at the moment.”

Ronaldo is now preparing to lead his Portugal side into this winter’s World Cup but it is becoming increasingly unlikely that he will play for the Reds again once club football resumes in December.
