Ralf Rangnick rejects Cristiano Ronaldo question after Piers Morgan interview

Cristiano Ronaldo has become an afterthought at Manchester United and at some point, he was going to start acting out and we’ve reached that point now.

Erik ten Hag has preferred at least two other forwards to Ronaldo this season and it has become increasingly clear that the Dutchman is not planning with the 37-year-old for the future.

Only hours after United secured three points in their final Premier League game before the World Cup break, it was announced that Ronaldo had given an interview with TV host Piers Morgan.

Among a number of other things, Ronaldo took at aim at former interim manager Ralf Rangnick, who led the side for the second half of the 2021/22 season.

Ronaldo enjoyed his finest scoring form under the German but clearly, there is no love lost as he slammed United for appointing a sporting director as interim manager.

Less than 48 hours later, the question was put to Rangnick himself but the experienced coach refused to get caught up in the drama and immediately rejected the opportunity to speak on the matter.

“I’m the team boss of Austria’s national team, it’s not my job to judge that. (It’s) the job of Manchester United and the sports journalists,” Rangnick told Kronen Zeitung, via Sport Witness.

SN’s verdict…
It cannot be forgotten that although Ronaldo’s comments thus far have been explosives, only snippets of his interview with Piers Morgan have been released.

The full 90-minute show will be aired later this week and there are more jibes coming. Bridges have already been burned to the point of no return but amid suggestions that United could terminate his contract, the full interview may force their hand.

In this particular matter, Rangnick is doing the right thing by not getting drawn in. He dealt with enough of the same problems when he was in charge.

  1. If what you published in the 1st paragraph of this article is indeed true then it just proves Ronaldo’s point. Why was he lied to and told that he had a major part to play in ETH’s plans?? He was straight-up lied to about that and that is an unbearable humiliation for him.
