Man United handed boost as Fulham star is ruled out of Premier League clash

Manchester United have been handed a huge boost ahead of this weekend’s game against Fulham following the news that the London club will be without one of their star players.

Marco Silva’s men have exceeded all expectations this season and currently sit 9th in the Premier League in their first season back in the top flight.

Aleksandar Mitrovic enjoyed a record-breaking season in the Championship last season and he has taken that goalscoring form into this campaign, scoring nine goals so far.

Only two players have scored more goals than the Serbian international this season but it has now been confirmed that he will miss Sunday’s game at Craven Cottage.

As per Fulham’s official website, Silva has confirmed that Mitrovic will be missing the game against United due to an injury sustained earlier this season.

Erik ten Hag has a number of selection issues he needs to address himself, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Antony both named as doubts ahead of the game.

Marcus Rashford is likely to play centrally as the 25-year-old eyes to continue his sparkling start to the season but Anthony Martial could earn just his second Premier League start of the season.

SN’s verdict…
The news of Mitrovic’s absence will come as good news for Ten Hag, who is searching for a win to end this half of the season before the season is broken by the upcoming World Cup.

Fulham are, however, still a tough test for United and Ten Hag’s men will need to be at the top of their game to leave London with all three points.

The defeat to Aston Villa last weekend ended United’s nine-game unbeaten run and they cannot afford to drop points again if they want to finish in the Champions League places.
