Allegri reveals what he told Rabiot amid Manchester United talks

Adrien Rabiot was linked with a move to Manchester United last summer and I never got the impression that Juventus fans had objected the idea at the time.

Max Allegri is a manager who has always trusted Rabiot, even during times he wasn’t playing well, and there has been a lot written about him in the past being a complicated figure to handle.

However, the France international has improved his performances this season after deciding to stay in Turin. He went all of last season without scoring a goal, but has managed five already this season.

Last night, Rabiot enjoyed a strong performance against Inter Milan in the Derby d’Italia. He controlled everything in midfield and broke the deadlock with a brilliant finish.

Allegri was full of praise for his midfield star following the win over Inter. He revealed what he told Rabiot when the latter was in talks with Manchester United.

“I told Rabiot that if he was happy to go to Manchester he could go. But he eventually stayed put and he remains an important player for us,” said Allegri in his post-match interview with DAZN via JuveFC.

“I just reminded him that at Juventus he’s well respected, and that I consider him a great player with significant room for improvement.

“Adrien has now reached the age of maturity. He played an extraordinary match.”

Rabiot’s move to United collapsed and we ended up signing Casemiro instead. Nobody is complaining!
