Man United and Liverpool handed boost in pursuit of Atletico Madrid midfielder

Although once opposed to selling him, according to recent reports, Atletico Madrid may now be prepared to ‘study offers’ for midfielder Marcos Llorente.

That’s according to a recent report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (as relayed via Sports Witness), who claims the midfielder’s ‘drop in performances’, as well as Atletico Madrid’s financial problems, could pave the way for the 27-year-old to move on.

It seems unlikely that Erik ten Hag will want to make a move for Llorente. Not only would he not come cheap because he still has five years left on deal, but after signing Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the summer, for the first time in a long time, the central midfield may not be the Red Devils’ priority position.

Nevertheless, the Spanish media believe that United, along with rivals Liverpool could reignite their interest if Atletico Madrid are serious about listening to offers.

Since joining Diego Simeone’s Colchoneros from Real Madrid three years ago, Llorente, who has 17 international caps under his belt, has gone on to feature in 130 matches, in all competitions, directly contributing to 39 goals along the way.
