Fred: We expect a tough game and we need to win

Manchester United’s Fred has given his verdict on the clash with Aston Villa on Sunday and newly appointed manager Unai Emery.

The Red Devils will be keen on extending their nine-game unbeaten streak, as well as adding to their Premier League record of 23 away matches unbeaten against Villa.

Newly appointed Emery will want to make a statement on his first game in charge of the Midlands side. The last time the Spaniard faced United was as Villarreal manager last season, he suffered two defeats in the Champions League group stage.

Villa are on the back of a 4-0 loss to Newcastle and sit 17th in the league. Bouncing back is crucial for the team to try and build some positive momentum heading into the World Cup break.

Fred gives his verdict

The Brazilian has reflected on the previous meetings with Emery as well as looking ahead to today’s clash. In an interview with MUTV, he said: “We know about this coach, we lost to him in the Europa League. He is a good coach, and we know they have a good team.

“We expect a tough game, and we need to win this game. It is not too easy to play against them and we need to be careful of course. But we need to keep [performing] again [and] play well, because the last game we play so good, and we need to keep this and put [onto] the pitch.”
