Manchester United among admirers of experienced Inter Milan centre-back

Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has been linked with a move away from the Italian club and his contract expires at the San Siro next summer.

The 27-year-old can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January, however, it is understood that Inter want to tie him down to a new long-term contract.

In terms of centre-backs in Europe currently, Skriniar has been one of the biggest names around for years, but it remains to be seen if he is ready to challenge the Premier League.

According to 90min, Manchester United are among Skriniar’s admirers which also include Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City.

Inter Milan must decide in January whether they should cash in on that defender, but that would only be forced upon them if Skriniar ignores approaches from them to sign a new deal at the club.

United could definitely use a quality centre back due to Raphael Varane’s lack of availability. We already have Lisandro Martinez but neither Victor Lindelof or Harry Maguire can partner the Argentine over a long duration of time. Not when we are trying to improve from last season’s defensive disaster-class.

Skriniar would be a substantial upgrade on Lindelof and Maguire. That goes without saying and we need to address that rather than relying on Varane next season.
