Preview: Real Sociedad vs Manchester United

Manchester United will be looking to make it three wins in a row when they take on Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena in the last game of the Europa League group stages in Spain on Thursday night.

The Reds go into the game sitting three points behind Real Sociedad in second place, knowing that they must beat their opponents by at least two goals should they wish to finish top of the group.

Anthony Martial won’t be fit in time to face Real Sociedad despite retuning to first team training this week whilst Donny Van De Beek could feature.

After a slow start to the season, it’s been a promising past couple of weeks or so for Erik Ten Hag and Manchester United.

It’s clear the club are heading in the right direction under the Dutchman and that he is slowly but surely finding his feet at Old Trafford and in facing Real Sociedad on Thursday night, it provides the Reds an opportunity to top Group E and in theory get a much more favourable draw in the knockout stages but it won’t be easy

Real Sociedad currently sit 5th in La Liga and have enjoyed a successful season thus far under head coach Imanol Alguacil.

Having already lost to Sociedad back in September at Old Trafford Ten Hag will be fully aware of just how good of a side they are and that in order for United to beat them we will undoubtedly have to be at our very best.

Despite this been United’s toughest game of the group, I am quietly confident we can beat Real Sociedad. The hosts may have beaten us last time round but that was two months ago and a lot has changed since then. Ten Hag has United looking far more settled and I wouldn’t put it past United to get the result they need to top the group here.

Prediction: Real Sociedad 0-2 Manchester United
