Preview: Manchester United vs West Ham

Manchester United will be looking to move to within one point of the top four when they take on West Ham in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.

The Reds go into the game on the back of a 3-0 victory over FC Sheriff in the Europa League midweek whilst the Hammers ran out 1-0 winners over Silkeborg at the London Stadium.

Marcus Rashford is widely expected to return to the starting eleven to face West Ham after coming off the substitutes bench to score in Europe midweek whilst Cristiano Ronaldo could also start as he bids to win himself a place back in Erik ten Hag’s starting line up.

Sitting just four points outside the top four with games in hand and with place in the knockout stages of the Europa League already secure, it’s fair to say that it has been a positive past couple of months or so for Ten Hag at United. Things may have gotten off to a rocky start under the Dutchman but it’s clear the Reds are moving in the right direction and in facing West Ham it provides the Reds another chance to keep the momentum going.

The Hammers have endured a slow start to the season under head coach David Moyes and currently find themselves sitting just below mid table in 13th place. West Ham have fared well under Moyes over the past couple of seasons, but have struggled so far this term and this is game United will undoubtedly go into as the favourites.

United have an impressive record against West Ham over the years particularly at Old Trafford and although West Ham are no mugs I still expect us to win comfortably here. The Hammers haven’t got going this season and with Rashford, Fernandes and co all in fine form we should have too much for the visitors and take all three points.

Prediction: Manchester United 3-1 West Ham
